Cufflink Options

"It's good to be King".........................These are MY take on the "scrabble tile" cuff links. I wanted to change it up so you couldn't tell that they are actually scrabble tiles. (you can only tell from the underside of the links). They definitely have a handmade feel to them that I really like. These will be making an appearance in my Etsy shop soon. I will be making more of these, and they can also be personalized to your loved ones taste.

Here is a better picture of the personalized cuff links I made for my sister. I think they turned out great, and everyone will know my B-I-L is a proud daddy when he's wearing these.
These round ones are the next ones I will be working on. They can be personalized with pics, fun paper, maps, retro fabric.......really the options are endless.

If you are looking for a great present, but just can't figure it out for the man who has everything (he has you doesn't he?:). Then these cuff links are a great option to let him show who he is.
Email me and we will get things going.

Fathers Day coming up

Here is an idea for that #1 Dad or Hubby in your life!

These Silver ones are a special order (obviously, they are personalized).

I'm just learning the in's & out's of etsy, so as soon as I've got it down, I'll be posting items like crazy (hopefully) :)

I also have silver & gold round cuff links. I've got more pics of the different options coming in the next couple days.

My Version of Sunflowers

And it ended up with no Sunflowers at all!

Let's pretend these photos are in the order I wanted them, instead of backwards.
This is a progression of an Oil Painting I did. I was inspired by Van Gogh's "Sunflowers", but I wanted to do my own version.
I thought I would be putting this in my kitchen and wanted colors to match.....and I do like Sunflowers, but they are not my favorite, so I wanted to change it up a bit. You can see in the last (that was supposed to be the first) pic that I tried to at least stick to placement. But that did not last! After I changed the colors (see the 2nd pic from bottom) I decided I did not really want ANY sunflowers in it and tried changing it up with a variation of flowers. The first picture you see is the version I decided to stick with.
My father is an artist and so when I am having trouble or blocks, i talk to him to see what he says. His advice on this was to stop "messing around" with it. (I personally wasn't that satisfied with the color changes I made and wanted to keep changing color or even subject). My dad said "just finish it, and start working on a new one"
My dad is a genius! ( I may sound biased, but it is true:)
It is always nice to get the things I'm doing perfect(or at least in line with my vision), but I also have to remember that If I am spending too much time on one thing, my perception gets a little blurred. It seems I work best, when I am able to take a step back, just start doing and come back and see if I'm not happy with the result.
Now, this picture has a place in my bedroom and it grows on me a little more each time I see it.

Christmas Advent Calender

Here is the advent calender I made this year. I included the close up because I wanted to show that each picture has a glitter element. I don't know if you can see the glitter or not, but I am very happy with how it all turned out.
Also, I know the cookie sheet ones were very popular this last year, but this is not one of those. When it hang on the wall, it hangs flat. Next Christmas I'll get a picture of it hanging, so you can see the ribbon I chose to go with it!
These calenders remind me of the little throw away ones with cheap chocolate in them, from when I was little....just a little better, in my mind.

boxes

Here are some upcycled boxes I started working on. These will be for storage purposes in my studio. (Sorry for the boring/messy background in the pics). I will have to post a new photo, when it is finally on a shelf in my "not-finished-but-hopefully-Mr. Nobody-will-show-up-to-finish-it-for-me" studio.
I've already lined the boxes with vintage-style fabric (the whole insiration for these, papers used and fabric chosen, because they each reminded me of a blankie I had when I was a child.)
Sometimes it is nice to remember comforting things.

What I've been working on

Here are a couple of projects I've just finished. 2 breakfast trays, the first one is obviously my 'Halloween' tray and the second one is 'For the Birds'. Also I made my project board to go in my studio.

I love doing little projects like this, it is a good way to get your creativity flowing. Once you start(and hopefully finish:) one it is hard to stop.
